Enough for 2 coats with a little spare. Paint coverage varies by brand and surface — a chalky matt over bare plaster uses noticeably more than an eggshell over existing paint.

If you're painting the trim the same colour as the walls — which removes the visual line at every skirting board and makes rooms look taller — use the same colour in a different finish. Matt on the walls, eggshell on the trim.

Buy all the paint for a room in one go and check the batch numbers match. Tins from different batches can differ slightly, and the difference shows on a wall.
